I recently completed the redesign and launch of my first web design project for The Nitty Gritty, a vibrant costume rental and vintage clothing store that has been a cornerstone of the Louisville community for over 20 years. The previous website had just become outdated and didn't reflect the exuberant and fun-loving nature that The Nitty Gritty brings to the table. One of my favorite mediums to work in is collage and I felt it fit perfectly with this project. Because of the overlapping, generational influence that is inherent in collecting vintage clothing, I used this opportunity to pull images that reflect styles and trends across decades to fully encapsulate The Nitty Gritty's visual identity. Another important factor was including real images of our community. By featuring pictures of patrons and regulars that have been shared on social media, we not only show the wide range of items we provide, but celebrate the people who have supported The Nitty Gritty for over 20 years.
